John Thompson has been around horses and showing since he was three years old. As a youth John showed AQHA, traveling to all major circuits in many states. John achieved great success in his youth career amassing many All Arounds, Top Fives and Top Tens at Congress and World Show level.

At 15 years old, John started his formal training working as a full time assistant for some of the top All Around AQHA trainers in Arizona. John credits spending 6 years in this type of situation, experiencing some of the best barns and most successful trainers, to much of his business sense and success. He then continued his journey, taking over the riders and riding program at an established Appaloosa barn in Arizona. In the Appaloosa industry he helped lead his horses to many Top Ten, Top Five, World and Reserve World Titles as well as an All Around Amateur Title.

In 2001 John decided to change his focus to the Paint Horse Industry. This is where John took all of his previous experience and developed his program for success. This industry has taken John many places and he has dedicated his life to helping clients reach their goals, whether that has been winning World Titles or the success of making a great investment!! This journey has moved John around a lot , but it has led him to greatness, in and out of the show pen. John has been fortunate enough to work in South Jordan, UT, Pilot Point, TX and Lake Stevens, WA. All great things usually come full circle and Arizona is very fortunate that John has returned.

John has met and done business with many great people and feels like that was only beginning. John Thompson Show Horses has now partnered with Painted Diamond Show Horses to continue pursuing high level goals and bring some new ideas to the horse industry. Thompson Show Horses has over 20 World and Reserve World Titles and more than 80 Top Ten, Top Five, Finalist placings and 4 All Around World Titles. With only a few years in the Paint Industry, John feels he has only begun his Title journey and feels like the future is even brighter for him and his clients. He will still continue doing the APHA All Around horses, but will also be adding APHA and AQHA slot and futurity horses. Returning to Arizona seems to be a great move for John’s business as he has surrounded himself with great people and great horses.
